Housing Enterprises, Inc. has worked with over 50 non-profit and for profit organizations, and public agencies to successfully create much-needed affordable and supportive housing throughout Connecticut and Michigan. RECENT PROJECTS

Button Hill, Willington, CT

The Button Hill Senior Housing project has been developed by the Willington Housing Authority and is located at 60 Old Farms Road, Willington, CT. The new construction cottage style apartments have 24 units of one bedroom apartments for low to mid-income elderly, with some units at market rate as well. The project has implemented green development strategies in the design and construction of the project and was certified under the Energy Star program. The project is financed through the State of Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH), Federal Home Loan Bank, and other grants, loans, and private donations.


Cedar Ridge Apartments, Stephenson, MI

Mid-County Non-Profit Housing Corporation, Owner, has developed Cedar Ridge Apartments which opened in November 2015. The 14 units of affordable senior housing are intended to serve persons age 62 and older and is located at E817 Gerue St in Stephenson, MI. The development provides housing for those very low-income seniors who are able to live independently and without any special supportive services required. This project is funded by the HUD Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program.


Liberty Gardens, Hartford, CT

Developed by Chrysalis Center Real Estate Corporation, Liberty Gardens, originally built in 1910, is located at 272 Garden Street The project is a historic restoration of eight existing apartments with a newly constructed addition. There is a total of 10 units with (6) three-bedroom apartments and (4) two-bedroom apartments. The building has an elevator, on-site laundry, family activity rooms, and case management offices. The building is designed with a high level of energy efficiency. Chrysalis Center, Inc. is the service provider for the ten occupants who are CT Department of Children and Families (DCF) adults with children, including those families who are chronically homeless or homeless.


Peter’s Retreat, Hartford, CT

Hands On Hartford, Inc. (HOH) has rehabilitated a vacant building previously used as a restaurant in Hartford. Located at 45-55 Bartholomew Avenue and built in 1900, the front building, which is the building in this current project, is a historic restoration with a full kitchen and dining area on the first floor and the second floor consists of the new construction of 13 efficiency and one-bedroom apartments for supportive housing. The Department of Housing and the CHFA Housing Tax Credit funds and other grants, loans, and private donations are being used for the housing units.


Stuart Farm Apartments, Kent, CT

The Stuart Farm Apartments project site is located near the center of Kent and provides an ideal location for minimizing travel distances to local employment areas. Kent Affordable Housing, Inc. has developed Stuart Farm which is located at 15 Maple Street Extension. It includes the rehabilitation of an existing building constructed in approximately 1828 and a newly constructed back portion. There are 5 units which consist of 3 two-bedrooms and 2 one-bedroom apartments. Stuart Farm Apartments, Phase II was just recently awarded and another 5 units will be newly constructed soon.


Rocky Corner, Bethany, CT

The Rocky Corner project is a unique and increasingly popular form of housing called cohousing. Homes are privately owned, while outdoor space and a large common house are shared. Green Haven, Inc. has received funding to develop 30 units of cohousing with 9 of the houses as affordable homeownership at its 4 and 21 Meyers Road properties in Bethany, CT. This housing will be arranged in clustered structures scattered throughout the central 5 acres. The project will offer 1, 2, and 3 bedroom houses for purchase, 5 houses at 60% AMI, 4 at 80% AMI and 21 at market price. While this concept is not for everyone, it self-selects those who are looking for more community in their lives, like an old-fashioned neighborhood.
